The Lisu Lodge near Chiang Mai is your base for visiting ethnic tribes and for exciting outdoor activities. The lure of nature is strong and you can enjoy an elephant ride through the jungle, ride on mountain bikes and learn about hill tribe villages on easy treks in this beautiful mountainous region.

 

: PROGRAM :

DAY 1 : CHIANG MAI – LISU LODGE (L, D)
* In the morning transfer on a local truck “songtaew” to the mountain temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most famous landmark of Chiang Mai. Its exquisite golden pagoda with 6 kg of pure gold at its peak and the rest plated with gold shines high over the city. The sound of temple bells fills the air, and the view down over the city makes an irresistible photo opportunity. Afterwards drive up the mountain, passing the King’s winter palace of Phuping and turn onto a rough dirt road to the Chang Khien Coffee Research Project where you can enjoy a cup of the local ‘arabica’ surrounded by fabulous gardens of flowers. Continue to the white Hmong village of Chang Khien where the 800 inhabitants still retain their traditional hill tribe clothes and culture that dates back 500 years. The modern city of Chiang Mai can be viewed down below 10 km away. Upon arrival enjoy a quick cup of steaming mountain tea with a village family and then back to Doi Suthep with continuing to visit an Orchid Farm. Then proceed to Lisu Lodge. Arrive at the Lisu Lodge. Traditional welcome drink will be served. Enjoy a Thai lunch.

* In the afternoon, experience an ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to the Thai village of Baan pang Mai Daeng (about an hour and continue to end up at Lisu Lodge as circle route). Then, Lisu "guide" from the village will take you for a walk through the village; start from Ton Lung temple to view the herbal garden then continue to visit the Lisu village families with a stop for a cup of tea and a traditional medicine at the shaman's house. Afterwards visit to the cultural centre or so called the 'museum' created by the villagers. Inside you will find a display of typical items from the Lisu as well as the Akha tribes. Time at leisure until Thai Dinner with traditional Lisu dance show. Overnight at the Lisu Lodge

DAY 2 : LISU LODGE (B, L, D)
* After breakfast. Start your adventure with cycling about 13 km. to the rafting point for a 45-minute rafting on an inflatable raft down the river and end up at Thai village. Short transfer to the Elephant Camp for picnic lunch. Enjoy an hour of elephant ride through the beautiful mountains jungle and end up by the river. Then a short drive to an Akha village for a visit including talking with shaman. To return to the Lisu Lodge, you have a choice of either by bike or sit in the local truck. Arrive at the Lisu Lodge around 4 p.m. Time at leisure until dinner. Enjoy a Thai dinner with traditional Lisu dance show. Overnight at the Lisu Lodge.
DAY 3 : LISU LODGE – CHIANG MAI (B, L)
* After breakfast, depart by local truck from the Lisu Lodge to the Pong Dueid Hot Spring. Upon arrival enjoy walking around the beautiful National Park and take the opportunity on your own small contribution for a energizing bath in hot mineral water. Continue on road to the Mork Fah Waterfall and stop en-route to visit the Karen tribe in Ban Huay Phra Chao. Lunch at local restaurant. Then transfer to Chiang Mai.

REMARKS: 
  • One tour leader is free of charge in half twin-bedded room for group of 15 full paying persons (16th persons). Single supplement is required if tour leader occupies single room.
  • For group booking of 15-up persons (max. 30+1 persons), a rotation is required in certain services.
  • For your information :
    -- There are 10 Mountain Bikes, 14 Elephants and 7 rubber boats and 7 oxcarts.
    -- In dry season, white water rafting by rubber boats will be changed into bamboo rafting.
Note: we reserve the right to revise summer tariffs starting May 01, 2007 depending on the evolution of the fuel price.
